We are big music fans here at HF which makes this project by Paul Blow for VH1 even more of a pleasure to bring you. Paul was asked to create the visuals for a new animated short for VH1.com titled “The Complete History of Heavy Metal: Fingers Bloody Fingers” which tells the amazing story of the one and only Toni Iommi.

This instalment sees Paul’s wonderful mark making brought to life by animator Kee Koo as the infamous guitar player explains how he made the best out of a bad situation. Be sure to see the short here – https://vimeo.com/120351437
Little fun fact: Did you know Tony’s middle name is FRANK?

This month we have commemorated armistice day and this year is one hundred years since the outbreak of World War One. Frances Castle was commissioned by the BBC to illustrate a series of images to demonstrate to school children, what life was like in Britain during the Great War for the BBC Primary History website. She covered subjects such as the causes of the war, a typical school day and how developments in technology, communications and weapons during the war, changed the way it was fought.

Del Thorpe has illustrated a brand new series of Tony Robinson history books for Pan Macmillan. They are a delightfully funny look into the weird and wonderful world of some of the most successful civilisations in history - the ancient Greeks, Romans, Egyptians and the British Empire. Del's fantastic drawings are the perfect compliment to the text and really bring it to life with their humour. So prepare to be amazed, shocked and disgusted by this cracking history lesson! And if that wasn't enough, he has also collaborated with Aardman animation on an interactive online game to run along side the series!
